Join us for the ¡Qué Rica la Cultura! Panel Discussion—a conversation about how art helps us remember who we are, share our stories, and strengthen our communities.

Whether you're an artist, a neighbor, a business owner, or just someone who loves culture and creativity, this event is for you.


🎤 Moderated by:

Dennis Chiessa
Director of the Graduate Architecture Program at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA)

Dennis is an architect and educator who cares deeply about how design can support community. He brings years of experience working at the intersection of place, equity, and creativity.


🎨 Meet the Panelists:

Einar and Jamex de la Torre

Einar and Jamex are brothers and artists who work with glass, sculpture, and collage. Their art is colorful, layered, and full of surprising combinations—from ancient Aztec symbols to modern pop culture. Their work often talks about identity, life on the border, and the things we value. They live and work in both San Diego and Baja California.

Carlos Donjuan

Carlos is a painter, muralist, and member of the art collective Sour Grapes. He grew up in Dallas and brings street culture, family, and imagination into his work. His art talks about what it’s like to grow up Mexican-American and to feel both seen and unseen. Carlos is also a teacher at UTA, where he helps young artists find their voice.

Arnoldo Hurtado Escobar

Arnoldo is a Fort Worth-based artist who works in many forms—drawing, sculpture, and more. His art often looks at culture, power, and how we express who we are. He believes art should make us think and help us grow. Arnoldo is also known for working with local artists and being part of community projects.

Benito Huerta

Benito is a painter, teacher, and longtime arts leader. His art often reflects on culture, politics, and history, and he uses bold colors and strong images to tell his stories. Benito helped build arts spaces in Texas and has mentored many artists over the years. He is a professor at UTA and has shown his work in galleries across the country.


 


🔥 Evening Event: Live Glass Art Demonstration

SiNaCa Studios School of Glass and Gallery

Capping off the day’s events, SiNaCa Studios will host a special live glassblowing demonstration by acclaimed artists Einar and Jamex de la Torre in the Near Southside Arts Cultural District.

Known for their vibrant, mixed-media sculptures and bold visual storytelling, the de la Torre Brothers will create a new glass work in real time—offering the audience a rare, behind-the-scenes look into their process. The event will be narrated throughout, giving insight into their inspirations, techniques, and how they use glass to explore culture, identity, and transformation.

This is a unique opportunity to experience glassblowing as performance—where art, fire, and community come together.

The Rose Marine Theater is a historic and beloved space in the Northside. For many years, it has been a home for local artists and storytellers. It's a beautiful theater with deep roots in the community—and the perfect place for this conversation about art, culture, and neighborhood.
