Join us for a STEM TALK with Dr. Concepción “Conchita” Jiménez-González, the Environment, Health, Safety and Sustainability global Lead for Research & Development at GlaxoSmithKline.

Dr. Concepción “Conchita” Jiménez-González is the Environment, Health, Safety and Sustainability global Lead for R&D at GlaxoSmithKline.  In this role, she leads the global team that enables R&D to develop medicines and consumer products safely and sustainably.  Prior to this, she has had a series of roles of increasing responsibility, including Graduate Program Lead, Director of New Product Development, Director of Operational Sustainability, Director of Analytics and Reporting; among others.  She has lived and worked in Mexico, UK and several areas in the US.  Prior to GSK she worked as an environmental engineer for GeoEnvironmental Consultants; as a program manager, researcher and project engineer at ITESM in Mexico; and as visiting researcher at Pfizer. 

In addition to her job at GSK, she is an adjunct professor at North Carolina State University’s Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Department, and serves in the Scientific Advisory Committee in Chemicals for the US EPA, and in the Editorial advisory Board for the Kirk-Othmer Encyclopedia of Chemical Technology.  She holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering and an MBA from North Carolina State University; an M.S. in Environmental Engineering from ITESM; México and a B.S. in Chemical and Industrial Engineering at the Chihuahua Institute of Technology, México.
