Visit Fort Worth Announces Breakfast with Opal Lee

FORT WORTH, TEXAS (June 15, 2021) - Opal Lee’s annual Walk for Juneteenth will begin with a breakfast and music at the Historic Evans Avenue Plaza in the Historic Southside on Saturday, June 19. 

The free event sponsored by Visit Fort Worth will take place from 8-10 a.m. with performances from local artists and food for purchase from local restaurants. 

“Opal Lee helps make our community more welcoming for all. This event will provide a great start to her annual walk and spotlight Evans Avenue Plaza,” said Bob Jameson, president and CEO of Visit Fort Worth.

Scheduled performances include the Key Church Choir, local singer-songwriter Sanni and Jubilee Theatre singers. Featured restaurants include Carpenter’s Cafe & Catering, Mama E’s BBQ & Home Cooking, Black Coffee, Creative Cuisines and Cinnaholic.

The event is free. Food is available with the purchase of a $15 tasting ticket that includes samples from each of the featured restaurants. Tasting tickets may be purchased at the event. Cash, credit and debit are accepted.

Opal Lee received the Visit Fort Worth 2021 Hospitality Award in February for her efforts to make the city an even more welcoming destination. She has received national attention for her campaign to make Juneteenth a national holiday.
