EECU is looking for Real Estate Underwriter Responsible for underwriting Direct Real Estate loan requests in Symitar, and in the LOS system Encompass. This entails, but not limited to Home Equity, HELOC, Home Improvement, Loan Modifications, Subordination Agreements, and Portfolio Refi requests.

Key responsibilities for this position will be proficient in calculating debt ratios, loan to value ratios, reading credit reports, DU/LP underwriting findings, title work/abstracts, appraisals, sales contracts, flood certificates, surveys, insurance taxes, exemptions, escrow analysis, and private mortgage insurance (PMI). The position requires strong underwriting and analytical skills to handle volume and to ensure all applications are reviewed thoroughly, judiciously, and in a timely manner. Must be fully knowledgeable of State and Federal Regulations. Reviews all loans for conformance to facilitate underwriting decision, along with ensuring completeness and of quality. Recommends appropriate criteria necessary for proper loan decisions. Works closely with the MLO to ensure upfront credit approvals are within established EECU policies and procedures. Assists with the development of standard operating procedures on loan underwriting. Oversees major areas which include adherence with loan policies, underwriting guidelines, loan documents, and loan origination systems. Must possess analytical and technical experience in the use of spreadsheets, along with the ability to use a loan origination system. This position provides feedback to management from all sources to allow management the opportunity to adjust the real estate lending program with respect to rates, fees, and loan programs. Assists MLO and/or member by providing optional credit avenues if loan decision warrants alternatives. Responsible for compliance of all Federal and State rules and regulations pertaining but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering, Bank Bribery Act, NCUA Privacy Regulations, FCRA/FACTA and Fair Debt Collections Act, HMDA, and TRID. Required to attend initial and ongoing annual Bank Secrecy Act training.
Candidates for EECU should possess the following knowledge and experience:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience Underwriting Real Estate loans
- Minimum of 5 years in mortgage banking experience
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, Symitar, and Encompass –LOS system
- Ability to work in a fast paced, team-oriented environment
- Knowledge of conforming products, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Ginnie Mae (FHA and VA), and escrow analysis a plus
- Decision-making expertise, interpersonal skills, organized and structured characteristics
- College degree or equivalent work experience in the financial industry
