Job Description

I) Job Purpose

This position provides Spanish translation and interpretation for the ECI staff and families receiving services; performs clerical duties, and provides support in obtaining the goals and objectives of the ECI program.

II) Essential Functions

  1. Provides written translation as needed and/or requested by service providers for the provision of all ECI services with one (1) or less incident of noncompliance in a three (3) month period
  2. Provides oral interpretation as needed to schedule appointments, interpretation during direct care services and as requested by service providers during the provision of all ECI services with one (1) or less incident of noncompliance in a three (3) month period
  3. Ensures incoming calls are received and messages are distributed in a timely manner with one (1) or less incident of noncompliance in a three (3) month period
  4. Assembles intake packets with one (1) or less incident of noncompliance in a six (6) month period
  5. Assists in accurate filing, scanning, or uploading ECI documentation, with one (1) or less incident of noncompliance in a six (6) month period
  6. Attends Medicaid Administrative Claiming (MAC) training quarterly and participates in MAC activities, as mandated by federal policies, with 100% compliance
  7. Attends ECI meetings, as required, with one (1) or less incident of noncompliance in a three (3) month period
  8. Attends and successfully completes all required refresher-training courses on or before the due dates with one (1) or less incident of noncompliance in a six (6) month period
  9. Carries an agency-assigned cell phone, ensuring all calls are answered within fifteen (15) minutes
  10. When unavailable, off work, or taking Paid Time Off (PTO), notifies supervisor in writing the name of the person covering this employee’s duties during the absence, with 100% compliance
  11. Completes all agency and program required documentation (such as: Service Activity Logs, PTO requests, Kronos time entry), within designated timeframes with one (1) or less incident of noncompliance in a six (6) month period
  12. Performs and successfully completes all other duties and projects, as assigned, utilizing this employee’s position, education, skills, knowledge, and talents, without complaint with three (3) or less incidents of noncompliance in a six (6) month period

Performance Standards

  • Successfully completes agency and program orientations and trainings within sixty (60) days of hire, as outlined by supervisor
  • Reads ECI state and local policies and procedure manual within sixty (60) days of hire
  • Along with supervisor, develops and annually revises an Individualized Professional Development Plan (IPDP)
  • Successfully completes refresher-training, as directed, within specified timeframes
  • Participates in supervisory meetings, when requested
  • Attends program, agency, and interagency meetings and trainings, as outlined on IPDP
  • Participates on ECI and/or MHMR of Tarrant County committees, as approved by supervisor
  • Presents a report to the team after attending special training/conferences, within three (3) months of the event

III) Knowledge of Laws, Policies/Procedures, Skills, Education and Abilities

  • Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
  • Knowledge of Texas laws regarding reporting child abuse/neglect
  • Ability to effectively translate and interpret English and Spanish in written and verbal formats
  • Ability to keep written documentation of work in an accurate and timely manner
  • Possess above-average recordkeeping, time management, and organizational skills
  • Ability to teach children, parents and other caregivers
  • Ability to problem solve with families, paraprofessionals, and professionals
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule
  • Ability to work independently, with no immediate supervision
  • Ability to work under stress and maintain a courteous interaction with others
  • Knowledge of confidentiality and ethics procedures
  • Ability to discuss uncomfortable and potentially conflict producing issues professionally and effectively with families, community agencies, and other ECI staff.
  • Ability to network and communicate with other agencies to assist in meeting a child/family's needs
  • Ability to dress neatly and appropriately
  • Ability to effectively use a Mapsco or electronic/online mapping application
  • Ability to work in a variety of computer and Microsoft Office products, such as Outlook, Word, and Excel

IV) Internal & External Customer Service

This position requires extensive internal and contacts, to be accomplished with above-average written and oral skills

V) Travel

This position requires daily local travel in personal vehicle within the program’s service area, often in difficult driving conditions and/or situations

Experience in interpretation and translation from Spanish to English and English to Spanish

Valid Texas driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

Must provide license (if applicable) and official documentation of all educational attainment i.e. Transcript/Degree/Certificate
