Job Description

Salary: $18.43 - $27.65 per hour
 

Job Description Summary:

The Cybersecurity Student Assistant is designed to provide exposure to a variety of security tasks that one should expect a junior or entry-level security analyst to perform. These include SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) tool usage, virus/malware remediation, Procedural Documentation, audit support, incident response, and general tasks of the security operations center (SOC). In addition, CSA may be asked to complete a project to advance their understanding of cybersecurity. This project will be adjusted to the needs of TRWD and matched to the skill set of the student.

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Log analysis
  • Malware/Virus removal and analysis
  • Phishing mailbox monitoring and remediation
  • Threat feed monitoring and updating
  • SIEM tool incident monitoring
  • SIEM tool dashboard/reporting creation and monitoring
  • Documentation and reporting
  • Maintain familiarity with strategic district levels of service
  • Continuous improvement monitoring and innovation efforts
  • Perform other duties as required

 

Required Experience:

  • Less than one (1) year of related experience
  • General computer literacy
  • Introductory knowledge of security concepts: AV, Firewall, etc.
  • Good communication skills (Verbal and Written)

Required Education/Certification/License:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Entry into a qualified undergraduate degree. Qualified degrees are as follows:
    • B.S. Cybersecurity
    • B.S.E Computer Engineering
    • B.S. Computer Science
    • B.S. Information Systems
    • B.S. Information Technology
  • Valid Texas driver’s license

 

Desired Education/Certification/License:       

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
