Overview:
The Volunteer Coordinator supports the work of NICA by recruiting, training, and stewarding our volunteers. This is a part-time non-exempt position reporting to the Director of Development. The Volunteer Coordinator is expected to exhibit NICA’s core values and provide a positive reflection of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:

Volunteer Recruitment
-
Work with staff to identify volunteer needs and requirements.

Recruit volunteers through a variety of means including online listings, community event attendance, and networking events.

Work with local universities regarding internship opportunities that may be mutually beneficial.

Coordinate with local legal system agencies regarding use and management of Community Service Restitution Volunteers.

Training and Onboarding of Volunteers

Maintain a functional volunteer application system that is efficient and user-friendly.

Perform background checks and reference checks on volunteers who require this step. Make informed and appropriate volunteer assignments.

Create volunteer training modules for each volunteer position to ensure volunteers understand the organization’s values, programs, policies and procedures.

Create Volunteer Handbook and procedures and update as needed. Recommend needed board policies for the volunteer program.

Volunteer Stewardship and Management

Assist Program Managers with scheduling volunteers.

Assist Program Managers with managing volunteers when they are absent.

Create volunteer service affirmation letters as requested by the volunteer.

Plan and execute volunteer appreciation events and communications.

Create stewardship plans that ensure volunteer engagement in all areas of the Development Department.

Reporting

Ensure accurate tracking of all volunteer hours.

Provide monthly and annual reporting of volunteer activity.

Development Assistance
-
Provide general assistance to the Development Department during high-activity times.
Requirements:
-
High School diploma or GED required, with preference for a bachelor’s degree.
-
Experience in volunteer coordination or a related role.
-
Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English. Preference to candidates with the ability to communicate in Spanish.

Computer literacy and proficiency in Excel, Outlook and Word. Experience with monday.com and/or Bloomerang are a plus.

Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

A collaborative mindset with experience working with cross-functional teams to achieve organizational goals.

Must be a connector – at ease with diverse groups of people and able to help them connect with NICA in ways that are both helpful to the organization and fulfilling to them.
Work Hours:

This is a part-time, in-person position with the following hours:
-
Monday/Wednesday/Friday: 8:30 am – 1 pm
-
Tuesday/Thursday: 2:30 pm – 5:30 pm
There is one Thursday a month when there will be extended hours to 6:30 pm. From time to time, hours may vary to accommodate special events.
Compensation:
-
This is a non-exempt position with a pay range of $18/hour - $20/hour based on experience and qualifications.
Also of note:
-
This position requires a reliable means of transportation to locations throughout Fort Worth. This position requires the ability to lift and transport marketing materials and displays that could weigh up to 25 pounds.
