Position Overview:
NICA is seeking a dedicated bilingual (English and Spanish) Youth Empowerment Manager to coordinate and oversee our programs for youth which include Aventura Rising and Juntos Leamos/Let’s Read Together.
Key Responsibilities:

Aventura Rising
Aventura Rising is a new program for students in grades 10-12. This journey-themed program provides education and experiences for students in the areas of Soft Skills, Life Skills, Career Exploration, and Community Involvement. Students will participate in “adventures” in these areas to earn various prizes and scholarship opportunities.

Create a curriculum of adventures that build skills in each of the learning paths.

Coordinate with other agencies on adventure opportunities.

Check in with all participants monthly and respond to any participant questions or needs.

Plan and execute on-site adventure opportunities.

Recruit qualified participants.
-
Screen applications to the program and maintain waiting list if needed.

Ensure proper record-keeping and onboarding of new and current students.

Document student’s progress.
-
Communicate regularly with parents regarding their student’s progress and plans.

Design and implement prize and scholarship incentive structure.
-
Track program outputs and outcomes and report on them regularly.

Establish an alumni group of past participants and schedule monthly online calls to support them in the years following graduation.

Assist the Director of Development as needed in securing prizes and scholarship funds.

Juntos Leamos/Let’s Read Together
This new monthly program encourages reading by offering a time for students to read based on their own interests, followed by a group discussion of their books. Quarterly, these events will be a community event with adults and children both reading, followed by a community meal and book discussions.

Coordinate monthly event logistics. (Setting, reading material availability, food and drink, prizes or additional activities)

Work with communications staff to spread the word about the events and ensure community participation, including community leaders.

Track program outputs and outcomes and report on them regularly.

Maintain proper documentation of program participants.

General responsibilities
-
Ensure program operations adhere to legal guidelines, code of ethics, and internal policies.

Communicate effectively with senior management, providing accurate and timely updates on program activities and performance.

Supervise program interns or employees.
-
Ensure the safest possible environment for children by enforcing child safety policies and recommending appropriate additional policies as needed.

Supervise program volunteers and assist with recruitment as needed.

Maintain good relationships with local school personnel. Coordinate and support FWISD initiatives as possible and appropriate.

Act as an ambassador of NICA and our youth programs in publc as needed.

Conduct programs in a way that reflects NICA’s core values.
Requirements:

Bachelor's degree, preferred, but experience in the education field is required.

Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English. Proficiency in speaking Spanish.

Experience in creating lesson plans and curriculum.

Ability to build rapport with high school students and their parents.

Preferably, familiarity with the Fort Worth ISD and North Side community.

Knowledge of program evaluation techniques and key metrics.

Working knowledge of MS Office and program management software.

Strong organizational and communication skills.
-
Analytical mindset with problem-solving abilities.
Work Hours:
-
This is a full-time, in-person position with a regular schedule of 32 hours a week. Work schedule will need to be flexible to accommodate program needs and student schedules. Primary hours are expected to be late afternoons, M-F and up to two Saturdays a month.
Compensation:
-
This is a non-exempt position with a pay range of $23-$25/hour based on skills and experience. Benefits include generous Paid Time Off and Holiday Time.
