Salary: $23.86 - $35.80 per hour

Possesses an advanced skill level of low voltage physical security knowledge, means, and methods which includes fiber optic and structured cabling. Perform all work associated with a service call, repair, alteration, installation, and maintenance of integrated security related systems. Resolves operational and/or safety concerns as they relate to TRWD standards; maintains a preventive maintenance schedule; and assists other departments as needed to provide team centric support. Can be the first call for basic trouble shooting to help team members as needed. Oversees various projects related to physical security that are budgeted and unbudgeted. This position requires little to no supervision to ensure tasks are completed and jobs are prioritized, scheduled, and completed on time. Displays professional communication techniques that show a willingness to support our customers and the district strategic goals. Puts the customer before themselves and seeks the best outcome for all parties involved.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Accurate service ticket entry that includes details and descriptions as outlined by department standards
  • Will support current KPI measures to provide reliable data to global KPI dashboard
  • Ability to install/repair equipment and run projects through self-motivation and self-accountability
  • Conduct site surveys and provide accurate and professional feedback to team and supervisor
  • Willingness to expand knowledgebase by attending training and applying learned concepts. This includes collaborative training with the IT Infrastructure team
  • Maintain operational efficiency of physical security measures
  • Professional level of written and verbal communication skills that provide customer service and a positive team atmosphere. Seeks to engage and lift up those around them to bring positivity to the workplace
  • Documents means, methods, and costs associated with assignments to improve job efficiency
  • Performs advanced data entry into computer applications
  • Prepares cost estimates, obtains quotes and follows Purchasing policies and procedures
  • Responds as soon as possible to service requests through all means received in our department. Communicates to the customer so they are aware their concern is being worked on during any given time (24/7/365) especially while on call
  • Applies strategic thinking to their daily work and interactions. Has the ability to listen to and evaluate customer requests and provides solutions that best fit the needs and standards of the district

Required Experience:

  • Six (6) years of related experience in both the low voltage and high voltage sectors
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of Relay Logic and the ability to apply industry concepts surrounding I/O relays across multiple hardware platforms
  • Proficient with fiber optic splicing, testing, certification procedures, and system documentation
  • Able to perform advanced computer operations with the ability to learn new programs as needed – Knows and understands all the primary Microsoft products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook as well as district associated products that are needed to meet district strategic goals (SN, Maximo, Lawson, etc.). Can demonstrate knowledge by supporting and teaching others within the team
  • Experience and ability to troubleshoot layer 2/3 switching (TCP/IP) as it relates to integrated security devices on the district network
  • Advanced knowledge of setup and programming for Cameras, Door Controllers, I/O Controllers, Intercoms, etc. and can adapt and learn new products knowing that most controllers/cameras are universal in setup and programming
  • Advanced level of door hardware knowledge and understanding as it relates to repair, maintenance, and installations. Can troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair any issue without technical support from others. Leads in teaching as to provide support to team and ensure team growth and knowledge
  • Assist with the evaluation, specifications, and requirements of Security/OT equipment. Document network installations, moves, and component configuration that comply with IS department established operations and cybersecurity standards
  • Understands and applies technical vs strategic thinking when engaging with district personnel
  • Advanced knowledge and ability to program hardware and software related to integrated security. This would include individual hardware deep dive programming with means and methods knowledge applied
  • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair basic IT/OT hardware/software which includes switch port programming and IT hardware installation
  • The ability to read and interpret blueprints

 

Desired Experience:

  • Background or experience in NFPA codes or installations
  • ASTM standards and experience applying through projects

 

Required Education/Certification/License:

  • Trade school and/or minimum of Eight (8) years of experience installing, repairing, and maintaining low voltage integration security equipment
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • SC-OTC-001 – Genetec Omnicast Video Certification
  • SC-STC-001 – Genetec Synergis Access Control Certification
  • SC-ETC-001 – Genetec Enterprise Software Certification
  • SC-AFC-001 – Genetec Auto View Certification
  • CFOT/FOI or similar
  • Valid Texas driver’s license
