Position Overview:
The National Sales Manager is a key role within the Convention Sales & Services Department at Visit Fort Worth. This position is responsible for promoting and selling Fort Worth as a premier destination for conventions and meetings to clients and stakeholders nationwide. The National Sales Manager works closely with the Assistant Vice President of Convention Sales & Services to drive sales, establish and maintain strong client relationships, and contribute to the overall success of Visit Fort Worth's mission: "A Better Fort Worth through Tourism."
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Qualify meeting opportunities to produce quality leads for our industry partners. Distribute convention needs or group requirements through sending clear and concise leads to the hospitality community.
- Manage group inquiries of assigned peak room nights in your market (10-150 rooms on peak).
- Use technology effectively by inputting all account information in the sales automation system (Simpleview CRM). Become proficient with CVENT and best practices for managing lead volume.
- Prospect for new business through email, telephone solicitation, network through organizations, attending trade shows when applicable. Coordinate and participate in concentrated sales efforts in assigned markets.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues in the hotel community and venues, concentrating on smaller hotels.
- Grow and maintain close relationships with customers by following up promptly, entertaining in social settings when appropriate and developing a strong understanding of their program needs.
- Arrange and conduct customer site inspections to showcase Fort Worth as a top meeting destination through hotel tours, city tours and unique venues. Evening and weekend entertaining is likely.
- Achieve assigned room night goal each year.
- Participate in sales trips to designated national, regional, state and local markets, as well as other cities identified by appropriate research.
- Assist and participate in the implementation and development of events such as familiarization tours, sales missions, client events, local industry organizations, etc.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (continued):
- Maximize prime selling opportunities by managing time effectively. Utilize any additional time to contribute positively to the office by engaging in special projects.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Assistant Vice President/Senior Vice President, Convention Sales & Services Department.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: College Degree or Equivalent Work Experience
Experience: 1-2 years of sales/services experience in the hospitality industry, preferably with a CVB or hotel. Have knowledge of Fort Worth as a destination and all that it has to offer clients.
Skills: Ability to demonstrate excellent customer service, strong communication skills, prospecting abilities and computer
(CRM) competency. Self-motivation, attention to detail and follow-up are critical. Goal- driven and solutions-based
thinking towards problem solving. Responsible for achieving assigned sales goals, including but not limited to, room nights,
leads, etc.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Must possess knowledge of convention sales and services, CVB / hospitality industry organization’s mission and objectives. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required.
The work conditions include a hybrid working environment; occasional irregular work hours; subject to interruptions, varying, routine and unpredictable situations while working on multiple projects. Frequent communication with internal and external parties.
