Salary: $78,866.46 - $118,299.68 annually
The Workforce Communications Specialist is responsible for planning, writing, and designing internal communications that engage employees and support key organizational priorities.
This role has dual focus areas: (1) developing communications related to policies, programs, employee services, and employee engagement within the office of the CHRO (Human Resources and Centralized Administration Departments) and (2) developing communications that advance the District’s values, organizational culture, and leadership initiatives.
The successful candidate will have strong writing and visual communication skills, experience translating complex information into accessible content, and the ability to tailor messaging for both employees and executive stakeholders.
Job Description
Essential functions and responsibilities:

Office of the CHRO Communications:

Proactively identify HR and Centralized Administration initiatives, updates, and programs to be communicated to employees

Develop clear and informative communication materials related to HR and Centralized Administration programs, including but not limited to: benefits, compensation, performance management, wellness, recruiting, engagement, clothing, and learning & development

Expand communications for recurring HR and Centralized Administration processes (e.g., open enrollment, annual reviews, policy updates, onboarding, staff events, and office management, etc.)

Design and write executive summaries, presentations, and infographics that effectively communicate HR and workforce data to senior leaders

Develop toolkits, FAQs, and supporting materials to aid in employee understanding of processes, initiatives, and deadlines
Organizational Culture Communications:

Create content and campaigns that support company culture initiatives, leadership messaging, and employee engagement efforts as requested by the Chief Human Resources Officer

Assist in developing messaging for company-wide town halls, culture surveys, strategic initiatives, and milestone events

Identify compelling employee stories that reinforce company culture and values

Conduct interviews and gather information for human interest content

Collaborate with departments on compelling people-centered stories highlighting employee achievements, milestones, etc.

Develop narrative-driven communications that celebrate employees and teams
General Communications Responsibilities:

Translate complex and detailed information into accessible, engaging content for a broad employee audience or a specific, tailored audience

Partner closely with the Chief Human Resources Officer to ensure message clarity, accuracy, and alignment with organizational priorities

Work closely with the Chief Human Resources Officer to create executive summaries, high-impact visual presentations, and infographics for CHRO use

Serve as the primary point of contact between the Office of the CHRO and the Communications Department

Write, edit, and distribute (in coordination with TRWD’s Communications Team) a variety of content including email communications, newsletters, intranet posts, leadership updates, digital signage, and video scripts

Develop, monitor, and analyze employee feedback and communication analytics to continuously improve messaging effectiveness

Ensure consistency in tone, voice, and brand across workforce communications

Serve as the primary point of contact between HR and the Communications Department regarding internal communications

Maintain familiarity with strategic District levels of service

Continuous improvement monitoring and innovation efforts

Required Experience:
-
Three plus (3+) years of experience in internal or HR communications, employee engagement, or another area that demonstrably benefits this role

Basic familiarity with HR practices, HR programs, and organizational culture initiatives

Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills

Strong visual communication skills, with the ability to produce executive infographics, summaries, and presentations

Proficiency with tools such as Microsoft Office (especially PowerPoint), SharePoint, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and email platforms

Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment

Demonstrated aptitude for working cross-functionally with Human Resources, employees, and C-suite executives
